2024-11-23

The Annual Speech Day 2024 was successfully held on 23 November 2024. This year we were honoured to have Mr. CHENG Ka-ho, MH, JP to be our Guest of Honour. Mr. CHENG is now an Appointed Member of the Sha Tin District Council and the Business Development General Manager of Lee Kee Group.

Our Principal, Ms. WOO Kit-ching, reported on the school’s achievements in the past year. Our school is dedicated to empowering students to become active learners for lifelong learning. Through diverse learning strategies, such as igniting curiosity in scientific inquiry and fostering a strong reading culture, we encourage students to joyfully explore the vast realm of knowledge. Furthermore, we place significant importance on nurturing students’ positive values and attitude for personal growth. To this end, the school organizes a range of activities designed to broaden students' horizons and develop their potential. Ms. WOO has praised our students for their exceptional achievements in various areas, including sports, performing arts, reading, STEAM education, and community service, all of which contribute to their overall development. Finally, she expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the SMC members, the PTA, the Alumni Association, the Assistant Principals, and all staff members for their support and contribution to the school.

Our Guest of Honour, Mr. CHENG, presented prizes and certificates to the graduates. Mr. CHENG is actively involved in sports development and youth affairs, extending the successful experiences from the martial arts community into various sectors of society. He embodies the principle of "life is movement" in both personal development and community service, and his passion for youth development is truly admirable. In his speech, Mr. CHENG summarized his athletic career and experiences with four key concepts: the ‘athlete’ aspect of being a sportsman, the ‘completion’ of one's endeavors, the ‘fulfillment’ of dreams, and the ‘connection’ formed through relationships. Drawing from his own experiences in sports, he encouraged students to adopt the unwavering spirit and positive mindset of an athlete in the face of challenges to achieve success. Mr. CHENG also reminded graduates to engage in sports and choose an active lifestyle, while diligently pursuing their dreams and contributing to the sustainable development of our country and the world.

CHAN Tsz-ching of S6, a student representative, delivered a vote of thanks to the school on behalf of all graduates. The ceremony ended in a delightful atmosphere, featuring magnificent performances by the Chinese Department, the Dance Club, the School Orchestra and the School Choir.
