The UNESCO Club and the English Department jointly organized a program which aimed at training students to participate in a Model United Nations Conference, hosted by Li Po Chun United World College.
The main objectives of this program were to foster students' understanding of global peace, encourage cultural inclusivity, and enhance their English public speaking skills. The event encompassed a comprehensive five-session training programme, followed by a two-day conference.
Twenty S3-S5 students actively participated in the training sessions from November to December 2023, and among them, five students represented our school to take part in the Li Po Chun United World College’s Model United Nations Conference 2024 in January. They assumed the role of official delegates in the conference, with each student assigned to represent a specific country. This allowed them to actively engage in debates and discussions with fellow delegates representing different countries from other participating schools. Throughout the event, our students had the opportunity to practise skills such as negotiation, critical thinking, and effective public speaking.
The Model United Nations Conference provided a unique platform for our students to develop a global perspective, improve their communication abilities, and cultivate an appreciation for diverse cultures.
